Do competitions actually work?
I know what you’re thinking. You’ve seen some really, really bad competitions in the past and you’re probably wondering if they’re truly worth the time, effort and brain space required to run them…
Since I’m a big believer in letting the competitions – and clients – speak for themselves, below you’ll find a selection of case studies along with the awesome results I’ve helped my clients to achieve. With my unique, strategic approach to competitions and giveaways, together, we’ll build compelling competitions that collect quality leads from entrants who become lifelong paying customers.
Client: Hot Southern Miss.
GOAL: TO DRIVE TRAFFIC FROM SOCIAL MEDIA TO THE WEBSITE
Hot Southern Miss is no stranger to competitions.
Their social media contests attract thousands of likes, comments and shares… but the brand was struggling to translate that social media engagement into website traffic and sales.
Together we designed a competition that encouraged followers to visit the website and submit their email address – not only increasing traffic to the site, but capturing vital email addresses and generating one of the healthiest ROIs ever seen!

Client: Mountain Bikes Direct.
GOAL: TO GAIN 2,000 RELEVANT, TARGETED SUBSCRIBERS
When Mountain Bikes Direct put the call out for help with making a crazy and ambitious travel prize happen within a super tight turnaround, I knew it would be a match made in competition heaven.
Armed with a prize idea and a goal of collecting 2,000+ qualified, targeted emails from MTB enthusiasts; together we created a campaign that would later see the MTB experts win Top Marketer of the Year in Smart Company’s Smart50 Awards.

“Quite simply, we’d not have done this without her input, strategising, encouragement and organisation – and then we’d never have known how much awesome potential there is in competitions for our business!!”

Client: Intelligent Home.
GOAL: TO GROW THE EMAIL DATABASE BY 1,500 - 2,000 ENGAGED SUBSCRIBERS
Having built a solid reputation – and customer base – in the building industry, Intelligent Home were ready to build the same reputation with homeowners.
I worked together with the smart home specialists to create a competition in partnership with Sonos to win a home sound package, with the goal of building an engaged, warm and quality email list of homeowners in their service area to kick off this new business offering.
Not only did we achieve this goal – and with healthy engagement rates – they were inundated with enquiries from their new target audience.

Client: Ramp Champ.
GOAL: TO GENERATE SALES AND POSITIVE ROI
I was super excited to work with Ramp Champ and not just because it involved many cute pictures and videos of dogs using their ramps…
Ramp Champ wanted to see if competitions would work for their business to generate sales, so together we set a goal for the competition to generate at least $6,800 worth of sales to ensure the marketing campaign ran at a positive return on investment.
We smashed the goal and also achieved the most impressive conversion rate from visitor to entrant to date!

Client: Pedder Wilderness Lodge.
GOAL: TO CREATE BRAND AWARENESS AND COLLECT EMAILS
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the majority of interstate and all international travel to this idyllic wilderness lodge stopped almost overnight.
Pedder Wilderness Lodge and I worked together to create a competition that would make local Tasmanians aware of where the lodge is and what it has to offer, to encourage locals to holiday at Lake Pedder.
We blew the competition out of the water, with incredible results and plenty of happy holidaymakers!

Client: Australian Animal Poisons Helpline.
GOAL: TO GAIN 5,000 RELEVANT, TARGETED SUBSCRIBERS
As a non-profit charitable organisation, the Australian Animal Poisons Helpline relies heavily on the generous donations of supporters, subscribers and pet owners who use the service.
To grow their database of potential donors, we worked together to launch a competition for dog owners to win a range of (p)awesome prizes for their pooch.
With over 12,000 entries at just $0.22 cents each, it’s safe to say we achieved our goal – and then some!
