You’re thinking that a competition might be the right fit for your business, but you’re still a little unsure. You’re unsure of whether you need help to run a competition, unsure of whether you’ll get the results you’re hoping for if you do it yourself, unsure of what to expect in terms of workload and in terms of expectations if you choose to work with us.

We get it, we know you want to make the most of your competition – and your budget – which is why it’s important to work out whether you should do it yourself or get it done for you when it comes to your competition idea.

Do it yourself competitions.

There’s nothing wrong with doing it yourself when it comes to competitions and giveaways.

It’s an amazing way to learn a lot about your business and your audience as well as get to grips with key aspects of running and marketing your business.

Running a competition yourself will teach you:

These are incredibly important and valuable lessons to learn when running a business or managing marketing campaigns and competitions are the perfect little microcosm in which to learn, because they encompass so many crucial marketing aspects (as listed above) and last for a finite period, so you can learn the process start to finish, from idea to data analysis and a short-term, neat little package.

Typically, a do it yourself competition would best suit:

  • People who are running a competition for the first time and want to learn the process
  • Business owners who like to learn a process before delegating it to someone else
  • Marketers or business owners on a budget
  • Marketers and business owners who have plenty of time to dedicate to running the competition themselves.

READY TO RUN A DIY COMPETITION?

If DIY competitions sound right for you, here are a number of resources in addition to the ones above, to help you get started.

The last guide to competitions you’ll ever need to read is our comprehensive walk through of exactly how we run competitions from start to finish.

It’s important to us to share our knowledge, so we have provided an online version of the guide absolutely free, to help you run your competition yourself.

If you’d like to grab a PDF copy of the guide or the accompanying workbook, you can get those in our shop, where you’ll also find a competition terms and conditions template to help protect your business legally when running a competition.

This is a fraction of the cost you would pay to a law firm to draw up a legal document such as this and has been drawn up as a template by our amazing lawyers at Legalite.

Don’t forget also to check out our blog, The Fold, which is full of helpful posts, guides and how tos to help you DIY a successful competition.

Finally, if you’d rather talk to a human, or you still have questions that need more in-depth answers, you can book in a free 20 minute strategy session with us.

Done for you competitions.

Sometimes you may want a little help with something that’s new or outside your usual skillset, that’s where we come in.

We eat, sleep, breathe and LOVE competitions and everything they help our clients to achieve.

We offer three done for you packages, aimed at different stages of business and budgets, which are designed to help you create a compelling competition that gets real results for your business.

COMPETITION KICKSTART PACKAGE

Our Competition Kickstart package provides you with everything you need to kickstart the planning and set up of your competition.

Created for small businesses on a budget, we’ll delve deep into your business plans and goals in a 45 minute competition chat to understand your motivations for running a competition, who you’d like to enter your competition and what results you’d like to achieve.

Following our chat, we’ll create your custom competition strategy, or roadmap for maximising your budget and entries. We’ll also put together a tailored terms and conditions template to cover your business and check your competition is compliant with licence and permit requirements and social media platform rules.

You can find out more about our Competition Kickstart package here, or get in touch with us for pricing and inclusions.

LAUNCH AND PROMOTE PACKAGE

For businesses who may need a little extra help launching their competition or who may need extra marketing materials and support with their competition; our Launch and Promote package gives you everything you need to launch a successful competition.

Like the Competition Kickstart package, we’ll map our your strategy and take care of the legals but we’ll also show you how to successfully promote your competition so you attract your ideal client, maximise your conversion to entry rate and nurture your entrants to become paying customers and active members of your community.

Once your competition is over, we’ll jump on a call to talk through your results, what they mean for your business and how you can use the competition results in your business going forward.

Find the full inclusions of our Launch and Promote package here, or get in touch for a tailored quote.

COMPETITION CONCIERGE PACKAGE

The Competition Concierge package effectively buys you a team of hard-working competition experts who tirelessly work behind the scenes to create, manage, optimise and execute the perfect competition.

Incorporating all of the inclusions from the Competition Kickstart and Launch and Promote packages, we take it to the next level by creating the competition for you – that means building landing pages, designing and setting up email automations, setting up, monitoring and optimising Facebook ads to promote your competition and keeping an eye on all the analytics to make minor adjustments to achieve the best possible results for your competition.

When the competition is over, we’ll compile and in-depth report of all the stats, trends, metrics and outcomes of your competition so you can continue to leverage the real results of your compelling competition long after it’s closed.

Learn more about our Competition Concierge package here, or get in touch to find out more about what it costs to work with our experts.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PACKAGES?

The major difference between the packages is essentially how much work we do on your behalf. The more we do, the higher the package cost, but the better the results you’ll achieve.

If you’re time poor and have a marketing budget, the Competition Concierge package is your best friend, if you have plenty of time to dedicate to your competition but you’re marketing on a shoestring budget, then the Competition Kickstart is your dream come true.

If you’re not sure which package is right for you – just get in touch with us to discuss your competition ideas and we’ll talk you through the best fit for you. If we genuinely don’t believe a competition is a good fit for your business, we’ll tell you and we’ll recommend what your next steps could be instead.

We’re ridiculously honest (probably too honest), because there’s no point running a competition just for the sake of it.

What’s that saying about teaching a man to fish?

There are many variations and many claims to its origin, but so the saying goes if you give a man a fish, he’ll be hungry again tomorrow, if you teach a man to fish, you will feed him for a lifetime.

Don’t worry, we don’t dispense fishing lessons, in fact I’m actually allergic to fish. Fun fact.

What we aim to do with our approach, our system, our deliverables is to give you a peek behind the curtain, see how the machine works and understand why that cog is connected to that gear, why it matters to have a clear idea of who we’re trying to attract and what you want to say to them,

That means you’ll be able to go through the exact same process we show you time and time again to create infinite compelling competitions that get real results for your business.

So whether you decide to DIY or you’re keen to get it done for you, there’s no right or wrong answer. You’ll find plenty of resources and free information on our blog and last guide to competitions if you’re keen to give it a go yourself and if you decide to work with us, we’ve got a range of packages to suit all businesses and budgets (and if the package doesn’t fit, we’ll create a custom one for you).

If you’re still confused about whether to do it yourself or get it done for you, get in touch with us or book in a free 20 minute strategy session to chat through your idea and the next steps to take.
