When Intelligent Home came to us with the goal to grow their email database with 1,500-2,000 engaged subscribers by partnering with Sonos to give away a ‘Sounds of Summer’ home sound package, we couldn’t wait to get started.

Who is Intelligent Home?

With over 18 years and 50,000 installs under their belt, it’s safe to say Intelligent Homes have established themselves as the experts in smart home technology, security and entertainment systems.

Having built a solid reputation – and customer base – in the building industry, Intelligent Home knew they wanted to build the same reputation directly with homeowners, so we set off with a goal of building an engaged, warm and quality email list of homeowners in their service area.

Creating the perfect competition.

We knew that to get in front of a new audience and capture their email addresses, we needed to have a compelling incentive. As an official reseller for Sonos products, Intelligent Home was able to leverage their partnership with the audio specialists to offer Sonos’ flagship soundbar and amp paired with in-ceiling speakers, cabling and installation from their tech team.

OrigamiGlobe worked together with the marketing team at Intelligent Home to create a competition strategy that would not only grow their email database, but educate and create brand awareness amongst the new audience of homeowners we hoped to reach as part of the competition.

After ensuring we had all the relevant terms and conditions and licences in place; we set to work on a promotion plan that would get Intelligent Home’s competition in front of the right people, at the right time, with the right message.

Reaching a new audience, meant relying heavily on cleverly targeted, highly optimised paid ads, so our Facebook Ads expert created a number of split tests, audiences and experiments to ensure we achieved the best possible results from the ads – that’s to say the highest amount of entries or leads at the lowest possible cost.

Not only did this enable us to maximise the budget, but it also gave us great marketing feedback for what ads, creative, messaging and copy worked and didn’t work for our brand new audience.

The results.

So how did we do?!

  • We smashed our goal and attracted 2,841 targeted entries in total during the 6 week competition.
  • With 81,026 impressions on social media, we also managed to achieve our secondary goal of increasing brand awareness.
  • We saw an impressive 67.4% email open rate across our competition emails and a 75% conversion to entry on our competition landing page. This told us that both our choice of prize was compelling and relevant and our audience targeting attracted engaged, relevant and interested homeowners.
  • As an added bonus, we used our winner announcement email as an opportunity to offer entrants an exclusive discounted home audio package which led to immediate sales as well as enquiries and bookings for larger home entertainment systems.
